Other issues critical to the effectiveness of Intimate EncountersSmall Group Ministry
How can we make sure that participants understand the level of commitment we desire?
- Help participants to have a common understanding of and commitment to effective small group practices BEFORE the group starts.
- Definition of individual and couple commitment: See “Commitment Sheet”, p. xi of the workbook
- Definition of the commitment they should have within the group: See page: “Group Member Covenant”.
- Make sure prospective group members see copies of the workbook, the Commitment Sheet, and the Group Member Covenant BEFORE the first meeting, if possible. Then spend some time answering questions about the expected commitments during the first meeting.
What if groups can’t take the time to study all 16 chapters?
Seepage:“Scheduling Options for Intimate Encounters Groups”
What if I or other leaders get in over our heads? When do we refer participants to others?
- Make SURE you have identified who you will go to for support and counsel if someone’s needs exceed the group’s capacity to minister.
- See page: When to Refer to Community Resources.
